Firefighter Engine Captain Gets Covid Three Times and Lung Cancer as Result

Tuesday, September 14th, 2021

It’s well known that firefighters put their lives on the line to save others, putting stress on life, limb and lung in order to save people, animals and structures on what would likely be imminent doom without them. Firefighters are trained in CPR and other methods, and their job is one of the few jobs focused primarily on saving lives.

Jason Phillips has spent time as an Engine Captain, a Wildland Firefighter, and a volunteer firefighter. Even after his 2nd run of Covid and Hospitalization he was back out looking for more firefighter jobs to take on.

Now, Jason Phillips is suffering his 3rd bout of COVID 19 in 2 years. He has suffered 2 strokes in 6 months due to COVID, has blood clots and cancer in his lungs as a result of a combination of damaged cells from firefighting, mutated by the virus.

”Life is really starting to get really old. Really thinking about just giving up with life all together. Still in the hospital with covid. Wish they’d just let me end it”

Jason wrote on September 4th.

Don’t give up Jason, we care, we’re watching you, and we are hopeful to be inspired by your recovery.

Jason is not the only one fed up with the Virus. K. Bala Krishna is a 50 year old Indian man who lives in a small village in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. He committed suicide after discovering he had an unknown ailment because he believed it to be Covid 19.

Jason needs help, but his reach as a firefighter was far greater than his reach as a COVID 19 victim.

In October 2020 Jason wrote:

”I’m partially paralyzed still with infection from sepsis and pneumonia. I’m on day 65 here in Colorado Hospitalized.

Just 2 days ago Jason wrote:

”Had a stroke yesterday related to COVID 19”

Lungs that battle fires may need more income to battle Covid 19 moving forward. Who preserves the lungs of lung-protectors like Jason?
