UPDATE: DeQuincy OMV has informed Speed Media that it’s services are up and running. Sulphur DMV could not be reached. Do we not all wish that all OMV/DMV establishments were as efficient and well run as DQDMV?

Apparently, the information Speed Media received from the DMV locally, was incorrect, and this is not a State outage, but a National one.

Speed Media has contacted 5 in-state DMV offices here in Louisiana, and out of the two that actually answered, one thing was clear: there is an outage.

Speed Media contacted an out-of-state DPS/DMV facility after hearing from KPLC 7 News that there was in fact a national outage, and the national outage was confirmed.

Richmond, VA. Chattanooga, TN. and Long Island, NY.; all report major outages hindering residents from using the DMV to process title and licensing transactions. As for Louisiana Residents, things aren't looking too good. Though our taxes aren’t on vacation, LA DMV in BR is on vacation and their phones have been “put on holiday leave” since New Years. The residents were the ones reporting the outages after discovering outages by driving miles from their homes and being told in person by smaller OMV and DMV facilities, rather than conveniently being alerted through Facebook or the DMV.org website. Residents are generally being kept in the dark unless they constantly call for updates.

”Louisiana will most likely be the last DMV to come back online. There is no communication, so even when it does come back online, you'll have to call to find out.”

For Louisiana residents, this has proved to be the straw that broke the camels back, and some were quick to assume that this issue by default was due to incompetence on behalf of their statewide DMV system. This was expressed in a previous Speed Media article.

Even KPLC has researched the issue and is notifying viewers.

Nobody is quite sure who to blame at this point. Who do you blame? Check back here for updates.

Duggard Predicts: Service May be restored around 2pm. Check back at 2.15pm for an update.
